The Village of Waterville is located along the banks of the Maumee River in Lucas County, in northwestern Ohio. The Municipality is easily accessible by way of Interstates 75 and 475, the Ohio Turnpike, and U.S. Route 24. Mileage to major metropolitan areas: Toledo, 12 miles; Detroit, 70 miles; Cleveland, 120 miles; Columbus, 135 miles; and Chicago, 220 miles.
The official 2000 population of the Village is 4,828, an increase of 6.5% over the 1990 population.
Although the village is growing by leaps and bounds, Waterville still maintains its small town feeling. Waterville offers a wide variety of neighborhoods, from historic settings on River Road to the contemporary developments on Waterville-Monclova Road. Waterville residents take pride in the village’s historic background; the entire community gathers once a year to celebrate its founders. Residents can enjoy the safety of a small community, with easy accessibility to larger cities like Maumee and Toledo.
The proximity to Toledo provides residents with an opportunity to enjoy the Toledo Symphony Orchestra, the Toledo Museum of Art, the Toledo Zoo, the Lucus County Public Libraries , concerts and other programs at the Stranahan and Valentine Theaters. The Toledo Mudhens offer enthusiasts an access to professional baseball; and hockey will soon make a comeback to Toledo. Toledo Arena Sports is pleased to announce that the name of the new professional hockey team in Toledo will be the “Toledo Walleye”. The team will begin play in October of 2009 at the brand new Lucas County Downtown Arena.
