About Charles Larkins
Council Member Chuck Larkins is a lifelong resident of Lucas County. Born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, he attended Rogers High School and The University of Toledo. In 2008 he retired after thirty-three years of service with Lucas County and the State of Ohio.
From High School, and throughout his adult life, Chuck has been active in Republican Party politics. He served as an elected member of the Republican State Committee from the 11th Senate District. While he still maintains his Republican registration, he is no longer active in the Republican Party, and considers himself an Independent Republican. He was also a volunteer for Northwest Ohio Hospice, and represented his church for many years as a member of the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church.
While a resident of Toledo, Mayor John McHugh appointed Chuck as one of the first members of the new Apportionment Board, which was responsible for drawing Toledo’s first council district lines.
In 2011 Waterville Mayor Lori Brodie named Chuck to serve on Waterville’s Charter Revision Committee and, in 2012, to the Parks and Recreation Committee. For the past 3 years he has been active with the Bring Back the Boom Committee, Waterville’s citizen/business partnership to return Fourth of July fireworks to the city. He is a member of the Waterville Historical Society. Chuck is also a member of the Waterville Economic Development Corporation.
